UK Generational Smoking Ban Approved

UK Generational Smoking Ban Approved

In a historic move for public health, British lawmakers have approved a permanent ban on tobacco sales for today's children and all future generations.

The new law prohibits the sale of tobacco products to anyone born on or after January 1, 2009, and introduces strict new regulations on the marketing and flavors of vapes.

Health Secretary Wes Streeting described the bill as a vital step toward reducing preventable deaths and easing the long-term burden on the NHS. Critics, however, have raised concerns about the practicalities of enforcement and the potential for a growing black market as the age limit rises indefinitely.
