Lyrids meteor shower peaks

The Lyrids are one of the oldest known meteor showers, with records of the event dating back over 2,500 years.

This year's display is particularly promising as a crescent moon will provide minimal light pollution, allowing for better visibility of the 'shooting stars.' The best time for viewing is typically between midnight and dawn, away from the glare of city lights.

While the shower is most intense tonight, it will remain active through the end of the month.
