Gunman targeted Trump administration officials
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche confirmed that Cole Tomas Allen, a California-based teacher and amateur game developer, likely targeted President Donald Trump and his Cabinet during the gala.
The suspect allegedly sent a 1,052-word manifesto to his relatives ten minutes before charging a security checkpoint at the Washington Hilton.
While a Secret Service agent was injured, his phone reportedly deflected a direct hit from a bullet.
Allen is set to be arraigned in federal court on charges including assault on a federal officer and firearms violations.
