Dublin fuel protests cleared
The late-night Garda operation on O'Connell Street signaled a turning point in the national crisis that has seen fuel depots blocked and supply chains disrupted across Ireland.
Protesters, who claimed they were 'ambushed' by police, have stood down blockades at several major ports but warn that further action may be taken if the new measures are insufficient.
Prime Minister Micheal Martin convened an emergency cabinet meeting to approve the relief funds as pumps across the country began to run dry.
The disruption has also led to the deferral of school exams and significant travel delays on major routes.
