One Million Bees Swarm Highway

Commuters in East Tennessee faced a bizarre and dangerous situation after a beekeeper's truck crashed on Interstate 40.

The accident released a massive cloud of bees, forcing officials to shut down the ramp for several hours while specialists worked to recover the queen and the rest of the colony.

Mark Nagi of the Tennessee Department of Transportation warned drivers to keep their windows up as the swarm remained active near the roadway.

While no serious injuries were reported, the cleanup operation proved to be a significant logistical challenge for local authorities.
