Taiwan reports AI-assisted cyber-attack on government agencies

Taiwan's Ministry of Digital Affairs has disclosed that several government agencies were targeted in an AI-assisted cyber-attack originating from overseas, with hackers using AI agents to help carry out the campaign.

The attack, which occurred in July, involved AI agents that were used to identify vulnerabilities and automate the intrusion process.

The disclosure has raised concerns about the use of generative-AI tools in state-level espionage and the growing sophistication of cyber threats.
