Fatou the gorilla turns 69

Fatou arrived at the zoo in 1959 and has since become its most senior resident, far outliving the typical 35-40 year lifespan of gorillas in the wild.

While she was not given a traditional birthday cake due to her sugar-free diet, keepers and onlookers gathered to watch her enjoy her special meal.

Despite some age-related health challenges, Fatou remains friendly and active within her enclosure.

Her longevity is a testament to the high level of care provided by her veterinary team over the past six decades.
