Orbán ousted in Hungary landslide

Viktor Orbán's 16-year tenure as Hungary's Prime Minister has ended following a landslide victory by Péter Magyar and his pro-European Tisza party.

The election result is being hailed as a seismic shift for Central Europe and a major setback for the international illiberal right.

Magyar, a former party insider, mobilized young voters and public anger over corruption to secure a supermajority in parliament.

The incoming leader has pledged to restore the rule of law, tackle systemic corruption, and mend strained relations with the European Union and Ukraine.
