Péter Magyar sworn in as Hungary PM

Péter Magyar has been sworn in as the Prime Minister of Hungary, officially ending the sixteen-year tenure of Viktor Orbán.

The ceremony in Budapest followed a decisive election victory for Magyar's center-right coalition, which campaigned on a platform of democratic renewal and closer ties with the European Union.

In his inaugural address, Magyar promised to dismantle Orbán's illiberal reforms and restore the independence of the judiciary and media.

The new government's first priority will be to unlock billions in EU funds that were frozen due to rule-of-law concerns under the previous administration.
