Alec Baldwin civil trial proceeds

The civil case, brought by gaffer Serge Svetnoy, alleges negligence and emotional distress following the 2021 death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

Baldwin's legal team had attempted to have the claims dismissed, but the judge found sufficient grounds for a jury trial regarding the handling of the firearm.

Several other producers of the Western film are also named as defendants in the suit.

The trial is expected to focus on safety protocols and the chain of responsibility for live ammunition on the set.
