Fire at Geelong Oil Refinery

Emergency crews worked for over 12 hours to contain the flames, which reportedly reached heights of 60 metres.

The Geelong facility supplies approximately 50% of Victoria's fuel and 10% of the nation's total output.

Energy Minister Chris Bowen stated that while the fire appears accidental, it will likely impact petrol production for some time.

The government has already utilized new powers to secure additional diesel shipments to mitigate potential shortages.
