Israel and Lebanon agree ceasefire

The US-brokered agreement marks the first significant diplomatic breakthrough since the regional conflict escalated in early March.

President Trump confirmed the deal following high-level discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.

While the truce is set for an initial ten-day period, officials hope it will serve as a foundation for a permanent end to the war.

However, uncertainty remains regarding whether Hezbollah forces on the ground will fully adhere to the terms of the cessation.
