Pope Leo XIV visits Algeria

Pope Leo XIV visits Algeria

The historic visit comes at a time of global conflict, with the U.S.-born pontiff using his platform to call for peace and reconciliation.

During his two-day stop in Algeria, he will visit the Great Mosque and pay tribute to victims of the country's war of independence.

The tour will continue to Cameroon, Angola, and Equatorial Guinea, regions where Catholicism is expanding rapidly.

This journey is the first of Leo's papacy to bear a distinct personal stamp, focusing on the needs of the world's most vulnerable communities.
