NCAA Tournament expands to 76

The NCAA men's and women's basketball tournaments will officially expand to 76 teams starting next season following a committee vote on Thursday.

The new format will feature 12 'Opening Round' games involving 24 teams before the main 64-team bracket begins.

Broadcaster Dick Vitale criticized the move, stating it "sickened" him to see expansion amid ongoing NIL issues.

The expansion is expected to increase television revenue and provide more opportunities for mid-major programs.
