President Donald Trump's plans for a Mount Rushmore speech and a state fair on the National Mall have been disrupted by extreme heat and low attendance.
The Great American State Fair was temporarily closed due to unsafe conditions as temperatures hit 100 degrees with a 111-degree heat index.
The White House faced mockery for trying to portray the 80-year-old president as a pop star.
Trump also used the occasion to announce pardons for six pollution violators and to hold a rally on the National Mall.
