US Soldier Charged with Maduro Bet
Van Dyke, who was involved in the planning and execution of the operation to capture Maduro, allegedly made over $400,000 in profits from thirteen separate bets.
Federal prosecutors in New York claim he took steps to conceal his identity and moved the proceeds into foreign cryptocurrency accounts.
The case represents the first time criminal charges have been filed in the U.S. for suspected insider trading on a prediction market.
If convicted, Van Dyke faces a maximum sentence of 60 years in prison for wire fraud and other financial crimes.
