Trump Meets Lebanon's Aoun, Lifts Flight Ban

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun met with President Trump at the White House as Israel and Lebanon began trialling 'safe zones' in southern Lebanon.

Trump lifted the 40-year ban on direct U.S. flights to Lebanon and pledged to help the country pursue peace with Israel.

Displaced residents of southern Lebanese towns gathered on the outskirts of their homes, waiting for the Lebanese army to authorize their return after Israeli forces withdrew from the area.

The U.S. has championed peace in Lebanon but has faced challenges after months of war between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group.
