Russia strikes Kyiv with Oreshnik

Russia utilized the rarely launched Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missile in a massive overnight bombardment of Kyiv, signaling a significant escalation in the conflict.

The barrage included approximately 90 missiles and 600 drones, causing extensive damage to homes, schools, and markets across the city.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the targeting of civilian infrastructure and vowed retaliation for the assault.

International leaders have joined in the condemnation, noting that the use of intermediate-range hypersonic weapons is intended as a display of nuclear muscle-flexing by Moscow.
