Trump: Iran Ceasefire Over, Talks Continue

President Donald Trump announced on Friday that the ceasefire with Iran is over but confirmed the United States would continue diplomatic talks at Tehran's request.

The decision followed a week of renewed military exchanges, including U.S. strikes on Iranian infrastructure and Iranian attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

The U.S. deployed an armada of 20 warships, including two aircraft carriers, toward Iran after Trump threatened to reinstate a naval blockade, while oil tanker traffic in the vital chokepoint ground to a near-halt.

Fresh U.S. sanctions on Iran were also imposed as Qatari and Pakistani leaders worked to salvage the fragile peace framework.
