Lebanon and Israel resume Washington talks

Diplomatic efforts to stabilize the border between Israel and Lebanon have resumed at the US State Department.

Lebanese Ambassador Nada Hamadeh Moawad and Israeli counterpart Yechiel Leiter are discussing terms for a formal extension of the 10-day truce.

The negotiations are complicated by recent Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon that resulted in the death of journalist Amal Khalil.

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has insisted that any permanent deal must include a full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory.
