EU approves €90bn loan for Ukraine

The massive financial lifeline is intended to prevent deep cuts to Ukrainian public services and bolster its defense against Russian aggression.

European leaders confirmed the agreement during an informal summit in Cyprus, though they remain cautious about granting Kyiv a 'fast-track' to full membership.

The loan package covers roughly two-thirds of Ukraine's projected budget deficit through 2027.

Despite the funding, President Zelenskyy warned that more help is needed to address critical shortages in air defense systems.
