Artemis II nears historic lunar flyby

NASA's Artemis II mission is entering its most critical phase as the Orion spacecraft transitions from Earth's gravitational dominance to the moon's sphere of influence.

The crew, consisting of three Americans and one Canadian, is scheduled to surpass the distance record set by Apollo 13, reaching over 250,000 miles from Earth.

During the flyby, the astronauts will capture unprecedented views of the lunar far side and the Oriental basin, providing vital data for future moon landings.

This mission represents a significant technological leap, testing life-support systems and navigation in deep space before the planned return of humans to the lunar surface.
