Norway Files FIFA Complaint Over Trump Red Card Intervention

Norway’s soccer federation is set to file a formal ethics complaint to FIFA over what it says was improper external influence after US President Trump helped overturn a red card for American striker Folarin Balogun at the World Cup.

The Norwegian soccer chief said “we all know that this verdict was influenced from external forces.” The controversy has put football’s governing body under pressure to defend the integrity of its disciplinary process.

Norway argued the sport is on a “slippery slope” if political pressure can alter on-field decisions.
