Erica Schwartz nominated for CDC

Dr. Erica Schwartz has been selected to serve as the permanent director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an agency that has been in turmoil for months.

Schwartz previously served under the first Trump administration and has a long record of support for established vaccine protocols.

Her nomination follows the ouster of Dr. Susan Monarez, who clashed with Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. over policy changes.

The administration hopes Schwartz's extensive experience will stabilize the agency ahead of the midterm elections.
