Soldier charged in Maduro bet
Federal authorities have charged Master Sgt. Gannon Ken Van Dyke with wire fraud and illegal monetary transactions after he allegedly exploited his access to top-secret military intelligence.
Van Dyke was part of the mission to capture Nicolás Maduro and used his inside knowledge to place thirteen successful bets on the politician's removal.
The Justice Department alleges he attempted to conceal his identity and placed his winnings into foreign cryptocurrency accounts.
This case marks the first time a U.S. citizen has been criminally charged for suspected insider trading on a prediction market.
