Sprinter Gout Gout Out of World U20s

Gout suffered a serious hamstring tear during a training session in Brisbane, ruling him out of the World Athletics U20 Championships.

The 18-year-old, who had been considered a medal contender, vowed to return “better and faster and stronger”.

The injury is a major blow for Australian athletics, as Gout had been one of the country’s brightest young stars.

He will now focus on rehabilitation and aims to compete again in 2027.
