Justin Fairfax Murder-Suicide

Tragedy has struck the family of former Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax, who police say killed his wife before taking his own life.

The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Thursday during what investigators described as a domestic dispute related to a contentious divorce.

Both of the couple's teenage children were at home during the shootings, with the oldest son discovering the scene.

Fairfax, once a rising star in the Democratic Party, had seen his political career derailed years earlier by sexual assault allegations.
