Lebanon ceasefire brings fragile hope

Lebanon ceasefire brings fragile hope

The ceasefire, brokered by the United States, represents the first significant pause in hostilities since the conflict erupted in March.

Despite the cessation of major strikes, the Lebanese army has reported instances of Israeli artillery fire in border villages, highlighting the fragility of the agreement.

President Joseph Aoun has vowed that Lebanon will no longer be a pawn in regional wars, pushing for the truce to be transformed into a permanent peace settlement.

However, Israel's refusal to withdraw troops from occupied zones in the south remains a major point of contention.
