EU AI Act becomes enforceable

The EU’s AI Act entered into force on 2 August, giving regulators the power to impose fines of up to 6 % of global turnover on companies that violate the new standards.

The legislation mandates transparency for AI‑generated media, bans certain high‑risk uses and sets up a conformity‑assessment framework.

Companies across Europe must now audit their models or face substantial penalties.
