Southern US Wildfires Rage

The Georgia Forestry Commission has issued the first mandatory burn ban in the state's history as winds and low humidity create ideal conditions for fire.

Smoke from the largest blazes has blanketed cities hundreds of miles away, leading to air quality warnings across the South.

At least 50 homes have already been lost in rural areas, and several schools have been closed as a precaution.

Firefighters are struggling to contain the outbreaks as shifting winds continue to send embers flying in all directions.
