Carlos Alcaraz skips Wimbledon

Two-time champion Carlos Alcaraz has withdrawn from Wimbledon as he continues to recover from a persistent wrist injury.

The world number two had already pulled out of the French Open and stated he is 'still not ready to compete' at the highest level.

The injury, sustained at the Barcelona Open in April, has forced the Spaniard to miss the most significant part of the grass-court season.

His absence opens the door for top seed Jannik Sinner as he chases a career grand slam in the absence of his main rival.
