EU Unblocks €90 Billion Ukraine Loan

The vital financial package for Kyiv had been stalled for months due to a diplomatic impasse between Ukraine and the outgoing Hungarian government of Viktor Orbán.

Tensions eased this week as Russian oil began flowing again through the Ukrainian section of the Druzhba pipeline to Hungary and Slovakia.

EU officials expect the formal approval process for the loan and a 20th package of sanctions against Russia to be finalized by Thursday.

The funding is considered essential for Ukraine's ability to sustain its defense against Russian aggression over the next two years.
