Root’s 99 Not Out Seals England ODI Win

Joe Root hit an unbeaten 99 as England chased down India’s 233 to win the second one-day international in Cardiff by four wickets and level the series at 1-1.

Root became the first England batter to be stranded one short of a century in ODI history, telling Gus Atkinson to ‘get it done’ rather than worry about the milestone.

The result sets up a series decider at Lord’s on Sunday.

Root said England’s young batters are learning on the job in the 50-over format, praising the team’s composure under pressure.
