Virginia redistricting map blocked

The Tazewell County Circuit Court has declared Virginia's recent redistricting referendum unconstitutional, halting the implementation of a map that could have favored Democrats.

This decision comes immediately after a narrow majority of voters backed the redrawn boundaries, which were projected to give Democrats a 10-1 advantage in the state's delegation.

Attorney General Jay Jones has vowed to appeal the ruling, arguing that the court should not have the power to veto a popular vote.
