US and Iran Agree Ceasefire

The United States and Iran have reached a tentative 14-day truce following nearly six weeks of intense military conflict that disrupted global energy markets.

Under the terms of the deal, the U.S. and Israel will suspend bombing campaigns provided that Tehran ensures safe passage through the vital Strait of Hormuz.

While the White House has hailed the development as a "decisive military victory," Iranian state media is portraying the pause as a strategic retreat by the Trump administration.

Formal negotiations to establish a permanent peace settlement are scheduled to begin this Friday in Islamabad, Pakistan.
