Five teens killed in M9 wrong-way crash

Five teenagers were killed and four others seriously injured in a head-on collision on the M9 motorway in County Kildare, after the high-powered car they were in was driven the wrong way.

The occupants were wearing balaclavas or masks, and the car was linked to earlier burglary attempts.

Gardaí said they were monitoring but not pursuing the vehicle, prompting questions about pursuit policies.

The government announced new laws to protect gardaí during chases.
