Sextortion scam warning for men

Nationwide Building Society has issued an urgent alert to men in their 20s following a surge in sophisticated 'sextortion' scams.

The warning comes as data shows a significant rise in cases where victims are blackmailed after sharing intimate images online, with some cases involving victims as young as 13.

Experts warn that the damage caused by these scams is far beyond financial, often leading to severe psychological distress.

Nationwide is urging customers to 'stop and pause' before sharing personal content and to report any blackmail attempts immediately to the authorities.
