Canada and Germany Sign LNG Deal

Canada has finalized a major 20-year agreement to supply liquefied natural gas to Germany, marking a significant step in Europe's effort to diversify its energy sources.

The deal involves the export of one million tonnes of LNG annually from the proposed Ksi Lisims project in northern British Columbia starting in 2030.

Prime Minister Mark Carney hailed the contract as a victory for both the Canadian economy and international energy security.

However, environmental groups have raised concerns about the long-term impact of new fossil fuel infrastructure, while industry experts warn that significant regulatory hurdles remain before the first shipments can begin.
