Mistral AI, widely considered Europe's best hope in the artificial intelligence race, is pivoting toward industrial applications with new partnerships at Airbus and BMW. The French startup is focusing on 'physical AI,' which integrates large language models into advanced manufacturing and robotics processes.

CEO Arthur Mensch also revealed that the company is exploring the design of its own custom chips to reduce reliance on U.S. hardware providers.

To support this expansion, Mistral is constructing a massive new data center in France, signaling its commitment to European data sovereignty and industrial independence.
