Mexican Mafia network dismantled

The FBI-led raids focused on a criminal network that allegedly turned American neighborhoods into a 'Gangsta's Paradise' through systemic violence.

Over 40 individuals have been charged in the Orange County-based crime ring, which investigators say exerted tremendous control over local street gangs.

Many of those indicted were already in custody but continued to direct operations from behind bars.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche hailed the takedown as a major victory for law and order in the region.
