Shooting at Mall of Louisiana

Five suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the shooting, which sent shoppers and employees scrambling for safety.

Two of the victims remain in critical condition at local hospitals.

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry praised the quick response of law enforcement but noted that the incident is part of a troubling surge in gun violence.

The mall remained on lockdown for several hours as investigators processed the scene and searched for additional weapons.
