Spain Wildfire Death Toll Rises

A British woman has died from injuries sustained in the Almería wildfire, raising the death toll to 13 as the blaze scorched 6,600 hectares and prompted mass evacuations, though it is now stabilised.

Five Britons are among the foreign victims, and survivors recounted narrow escapes, with one man describing how he survived a wall of flames after rushing home to save his cats.

The conditions created by a rapidly heating planet are making such disasters ever more likely, with wildfires also raging across the UK and France.
