Trump Reverses ICE Traffic Stop Suspension

President Trump personally intervened to reverse a DHS directive that would have paused most vehicle-based immigration enforcement, declaring on Truth Social that ending the stops would be ‘playing right into the criminal’s hands.’ The suspension was ordered by Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin and acting ICE director after the fatal shootings of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston and a man in Biddeford, Maine.

The incidents have drawn condemnation from congressional Democrats, who demanded an independent investigation into the use of force.

In response, DHS announced that every ICE arrest team will now include at least one agent equipped with a body-worn camera.
