Israel and Lebanon agree ceasefire

Israel and Lebanon agree ceasefire

The 10-day truce, brokered by the United States, is intended to halt the six-week war between Israeli forces and Hezbollah militants.

President Trump confirmed the agreement after direct conversations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.

While the pause in hostilities is a significant breakthrough, Israeli officials have stated their military will remain in a reinforced security zone within southern Lebanon.

The ceasefire is viewed by international observers as a critical precondition for resuming stalled negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
