Nepal flash floods kill dozens

A catastrophic glacial lake outburst flood along the Nepal-Tibet border has killed nearly 160 people and left over 750 missing, with rescuers struggling to reach obliterated villages.

The disaster has highlighted the devastating power of cascading hazards in the Himalayas, where experts say predicting sudden landslides and mudflows is nearly impossible.

Among the missing are 33 Britons, including a schoolgirl, causing agonising waits for families.

Indian nationals have also been affected, with emergency numbers set up for assistance.
