Nepal–Tibet floods kill hundreds, thousands missing
Catastrophic flash floods along the Nepal–Tibet border have killed more than 630 people, with nearly 3,000 still missing, according to officials and the Red Cross.
The disaster, triggered by heavy monsoon rains, has affected up to 93,000 people and destroyed critical infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and power lines.
Nepal's Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle estimated that rebuilding could cost between $4 billion and $5 billion, equivalent to up to a tenth of the country's economy.
International rescue teams from the UK, South Korea, and China are on the ground, while the risk of a glacial lake burst near the disaster site has reportedly waned.
