Rat Poison Found in Baby Food

A major food safety crisis has emerged in Central Europe after rat poison was discovered in jars of HiPP baby food sold in Austria, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic.

The tampering appears to have targeted 190-gram jars intended for infants aged five months and older.

SPAR Austria has proactively removed all affected batches from its shelves across multiple countries, including Slovenia and Croatia.

Authorities have warned that consuming the contaminated purees could be life-threatening and are conducting a thorough investigation into how the poison entered the supply chain.
