UK heatwave returns, fire risk spikes
The UK’s Met Office issued a heat‑wave alert for the coming week, projecting temperatures up to 35 °C across southern England and the Midlands.
Meteorologists warned that the dry, hot spell could dramatically increase the risk of wildfires, especially in areas already suffering from drought.
Local fire services have been placed on high alert and are urging the public to avoid open‑flame activities.
The heatwave follows a similar extreme‑temperature event earlier in the summer that saw several small‑scale fires break out across the country.
