Pope Leo XIV visits Algeria

Pope Leo XIV visits Algeria

The historic visit to Algeria is the first international trip of Pope Leo's papacy to bear his clear personal stamp.

During his stay, the Pope called for forgiveness and reconciliation, paying tribute to victims of Algeria's war of independence.

The tour takes place against the backdrop of the U.S.-Israel war in Iran, which the Pope has vocally opposed.

He is also scheduled to visit Cameroon, Angola, and Equatorial Guinea, focusing on the continent where the Catholic Church is growing fastest.
