EU Unlocks €90bn Ukraine Loan

The European Union is poised to finalize a massive financial support package for Ukraine after a significant diplomatic shift in Budapest.

Outgoing Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán withdrew his opposition to the loan once Ukraine completed repairs on the Druzhba pipeline, allowing Russian crude to flow to Central European refineries again.

The €90 billion package is intended to cover Ukraine's military and financial needs for the next two years as it continues to repel Russian forces.

EU officials are also moving forward with a 20th package of sanctions against Moscow, targeting its ability to evade existing trade restrictions.
